Monaco saw clear skies and fabulous sunshine for Saturday’s qualifying in Monaco. Off track, guests and clients enjoyed Y.CO hospitality while on tack 2012 trends continued as yet another driver put in a surprise performance. After a well-deserved win for Williams in Barcelona it was Mercedes’ Michael Schumacher, the returning seven time world champion, who set the pace in qualifying for the Grand Prix this weekend.
Schumacher posted a 1:14.301, 0.08 seconds ahead of Red Bull’s Mark Webber. It is however the Australian who will start from pole position as the Mercedes driver has a five place grid penalty for his crash with Bruno Senna in Spain.
Perez failed to make it into Q2 for the first time in his F1 career as he hit the barriers around the Piscine, losing his rear left wheel in the process. Unhurt by the accident, he will start from 24th on the grid.
With rain forecast for Sunday, the race could show a few more interesting turns.
